2nd UK Glia Symposium

On 8–9 June, more than 250 of us gathered at the Wills Memorial Building in Bristol for our second meeting. Two days covered oligodendrocyte physiology and myelin regeneration, human glia models in neuroimmunology, immune surveillance at the brain borders, and astrocyte signalling in health and disease — bookended by keynotes from Professor Ragnhildur Thóra Káradóttir (Cambridge) and Professor Baljit Khakh (Cardiff).

Alongside sixteen invited talks and three poster sessions, a panel on technology transfer and commercialisation brought in speakers from LifeArc, Oxford University Innovation and the drug discovery sector. It was a genuinely cross-career-stage meeting, from undergraduates to established labs, and exactly what we hoped the network would make possible.
